Scarification is carried out to remove dead and organic matter from the base of the grass plants. Thatch and moss is
removed which would otherwise prevent good, dense grass growth. If thatch is not removed a fibrous material will
form on the soil surface which will prevent air, water and nutrient penetration.

PDS use a Graden or a Korro Field Top Maker fitted with a scarification reel. These are aggressive scarifiers which will remove thatch
from depths of up to 45mm leaving a clean finish.
