Evesham Golf Club Visit with Air 2G2

The team at Phil Day Sports visited Evesham Golf Club on Monday with an Air 2g2. James Wilkes, Head Green keeper at the golf club, had reported that the 3rd and 9th Green on the complex had started to collect some water.
The Air 2g2 is designed to tackle deep-seated compaction. The self-propelled air injector uses air to shatter the hard pan created through normal to heavy activity on the course. The machine works on the principle of injecting compressed air vertically and horizontally over an area of 1.5m to 35cms deep, depending on the probe fitting. This causes a fracturing effect of the compacted root zone with no surface disruption. That means that play on greens, fairways, tees and around bunkers can resume immediately following the treatment.
We spoke to James Wilkes the following day and he reported that after light squeegeeing both holes "have played all day and he can see the difference in the surface already". James also said that "better drainage and aeration will provide a more efficient take-up of nutrients and moisture, which will have long-term beneficial effects to the soil structure and health of the grass".
