Scarification (also known as de-thatching) removes organic matter (thatch) from the base of grass plants, helping to encourage healthy, dense growth and supporting good air, water and nutrient penetration.

During our scarification we remove thatch and moss that would otherwise prevent good, dense grass growth. If thatch is not removed a fibrous material will form on the soil surface which will prevent air, water and nutrient penetration.

We use a Koro 1.2M Scarifier/Collector or a 2M Koro Field Top Maker fitted with a scarification rotor. These are aggressive scarifiers which will remove thatch from depths of up to 45mm, leaving a clean finish.
